Heavenly Blue is published by the team behind Dutch-Smart, a Dutch smartshop. We say this first because it matters for how you read everything else. Dutch-Smart sells morning glory seed, and this site is part of how the shop presents itself online.
Why there are no product links here
Shop pages for morning glory seed, including some of our own, describe the seeds as something to consume. This site does the opposite: it presents Ipomoea tricolor as a garden plant and explains what is known about its seeds without giving any dosing, preparation or extraction information. Linking to a page that does give that information would undo the point of the site, so for now we link to no products. If the shop offers the seed as ornamental seed with a growing description, a link may appear on the growing page.
How the information is put together
- Botany and growing advice come from the Royal Horticultural Society, the International Plant Names Index and university extension services.
- The chemistry follows the original papers by Albert Hofmann and later laboratory analyses, linked where we use them.
- The historical pages rely on the published work of ethnobotanists and historians, described as history and nothing more.
- The legal status was checked in the law texts themselves. Each country on the legal page has a source and a date.
- We make no medical or health claims of any kind, and we do not publish experience reports.
Every page shows when it was last updated. If something is wrong or out of date, Dutch-Smart's customer service can pass it on to us.
